Tasha Tudor’s 1944 classic, Mother Goose.
Mother Goose herself lived in the hills of Southern Vermont—no, not the imaginary Mother Goose of old European lore, but Tasha Tudor, the prolific children’s book illustrator born in Boston and best known for her Caldecott-winning 1944 picture-book, Mother Goose.
Tasha Tudor moved to Vermont later in life, in 1971. Her son cleared a wooded lot up in the Marlboro hilltops, and he used only hand tools to build her new Cape Cod-style home.

About the Research sites
The Brattleboro Words Project is working with the community to identify specific sites and themes significant to the study of words in Brattleboro and surrounding towns. Research Teams – classrooms/teachers, amateur historians, veterans, writers, artists and other community members — will produce audio segments and other work to be incorporated into audio walking, biking and driving tours tours.
